The Commissioner's Report: week of October 5, 2026
Fantasy Singularity is a game. Scores are not investment advice.
This report covers Monday, October 5 to Sunday, October 11, 2026 (US Eastern time), scored under Rulebook 1.7. It is the first live week: entries locked Sunday, October 4 at 23:59 Eastern. Every event below links to the source it rests on and quotes the sentence that counts.
The week in one paragraph
Google DeepMind had the biggest week with 40 points: open weights for EmbeddingGemma 2, a new image model in the Gemini API, and two consumer launches, the SynthID Detector for everyone and Playground, a game maker. Mistral AI came second with 35 for a public preview of Mistral Large 4 and an open Arabic classifier. Anthropic scored 30 for Claude Haiku 5.5, its system card and a new API capability. OpenAI scored 21 for GPT-6 with Intelligent UI in ChatGPT, the Decisions API and two partnerships, with three more OpenAI items pending. Alibaba Qwen scored 15 for open weights. DeepSeek, Meta, Microsoft, Moonshot AI, xAI and the field scored nothing from the sources we read; one Microsoft item is pending. No negative event was found from a primary source, though not every channel for negative events was read (see "What we did not check").
Points by slider
| Slider | Points | Events |
|---|---|---|
| Google DeepMind | +40 | 4 |
| Mistral AI | +35 | 2 |
| Anthropic | +30 | 3 |
| OpenAI | +21 | 4 |
| Alibaba Qwen | +15 | 1 |
| DeepSeek | 0 | 0 |
| Meta | 0 | 0 |
| Microsoft | 0 | 0 |
| Moonshot AI | 0 | 0 |
| xAI | 0 | 0 |
| The field | 0 | 0 |
Points come from the ledger by script, after the rulebook's weekly caps. No event was cut by a cap this week. No baseline signal was captured this week, so none scored.
Player scores
A player's term for a slider is allocation times points, times the crowd multiplier, times 2 for the captain, divided by 10, with chips applied as Rulebook section 7 says. Provisional scores appear at https://play.gigiac.com/scores once the week's scoring runs. When fewer than 20 entries are locked for a week, every multiplier is 1 (Rulebook 6.4).
With every multiplier at 1:
- 50 on Google DeepMind as captain and 50 on Mistral AI: 50 × 40 × 2 / 10 + 50 × 35 / 10 = 575.
- 60 on Anthropic as captain and 40 on OpenAI: 60 × 30 × 2 / 10 + 40 × 21 / 10 = 444.
A Quiet Week chip lost this week: Anthropic and Mistral AI each released a major model.
The events
Google DeepMind, +40
- Open weights, +15. Google released EmbeddingGemma 2 on October 6, under Apache 2.0. "Download the models: Find the model weights on Hugging Face and Kaggle, with Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform Model Garden availability coming soon." "Playground launches today for users in the U.S. (18+) at playground.google, with tiered creation access rolling out based on your Google AI subscription." Source: https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/technology/ai/playground-experimental-gaming-platform/
An image model is a specialty line, so it scores as an API capability, not a major model (Rulebook section 4).
Mistral AI, +35
- Major model, +20. Mistral AI launched a public preview of Mistral Large 4 on its API through Mistral Studio on October 6. "Today, we’re launching a public preview of Mistral Large 4." Source: https://mistral.ai/news/mistral-large-4

DeepSeek, Meta, Microsoft, Moonshot AI, xAI and the field: 0
No scoring event for these came out of the sources we read. That does not mean nothing happened: see below.
Pending
These events have a source but do not score yet. Each becomes final if the missing piece arrives by October 18, 2026, and then scores in this week; otherwise it is dropped and the drop is logged (Rulebook 3.5).
- Anthropic, Genesis Mission commitment. Anthropic committed $150 million over three years to the Genesis Mission, a US federal initiative, on October 8. Source: https://www.anthropic.com/news/genesis-mission-commitment The rulebook does not decide whether a commitment under an existing government initiative is a new deal, or which deal type it would be.
- OpenAI, GPT-6 October update safety evaluations. OpenAI published safety evaluations for the October versions of GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna on October 7. Source: https://deploymentsafety.openai.com/gpt-6-october The rulebook does not decide whether an updated version of a model that already scored is a new model, which a safety positive requires.
- OpenAI, text watermarking. OpenAI let API customers opt in to text watermarking for select models on October 5. Source: https://openai.com/index/eu-text-provenance The rulebook does not decide whether an opt-in output setting is a new API capability.
- OpenAI, mathematical results. OpenAI published new mathematical results from an internal model, with its own formal proofs, on October 6. Source: https://openai.com/index/sharing-ai-progress-in-mathematics A solved open problem needs confirmation by a party independent of OpenAI, which we have not found.
- Microsoft, MAI-Code-1.1-Flash. Microsoft AI said the model can be downloaded and run locally, on October 7. Source: https://microsoft.ai/news/mai-code-1-1-flash-br-better-faster-at-a-quarter-of-the-cost/ We found no download location or license, which open weights require.
- Mistral AI, Voxtral Mini 4B Realtime Arabic. Mistral AI published the weights under Apache 2.0 on October 8, developed with a Moroccan government ministry. Source: https://huggingface.co/mistralai/Voxtral-Mini-4B-Realtime-Arabic A joint release splits its points equally, with the co-developer's share going to the field, and the rulebook does not settle a split of 15 points.
The questions the rulebook does not decide go to a rulebook change. A rule change takes effect at the next lock and does not reach back into this week. So the four items that wait on a rulebook question score in this week only if Rulebook 1.7 already settles them; otherwise they are dropped on October 18.
One candidate was not scored: Anthropic's Cyber Mission and OSS Scanner, because access needs an application or an eligibility check, which is not public use (Rulebook 10.4).
The Singularity Index
The Singularity Index for the week beginning Monday, October 5, 2026 was 125.6, up 4.4 from the week before (base: the average week of September 7 to 28, 2026 = 100). It counts verified progress points only; pending events and negative events do not count. Method and history: https://play.gigiac.com/singularity-index
What we did not check
- Negative events. No outage on the Anthropic, OpenAI or DeepSeek status pages was confirmed as 4 hours or longer, but incident durations for Anthropic and OpenAI were not opened. The Microsoft and Google status pages were not checked, and the xAI and Mistral AI pages could not be read. Court records, SEC filings and regulator publications were not searched. Zero negative points means none was found in what we read, not that none happened.
- The boards. No model held rank 1 on two named boards at once this week, so no frontier model scored. Which models newly entered a board's top 10 during the week was not settled.
- Channels. Newsrooms of labs not on the roster were only partly read, and the Qwen blog could not be read. The Alibaba, DeepSeek and Moonshot AI official social accounts were not checked. Gemini app and ChatGPT release notes were not read, and few press outlets could be searched, so events that rest only on press were largely unchecked.
Found something we missed?
Every scored event needs the organization's own publication, a named leaderboard, an official filing, or two reputable press reports. If you have a source for an event we missed or scored wrong, you have 48 hours from this report's publication to dispute it: reply to the Commissioner's Report email with the link, or sign up for the report at https://wild-glade-3100.kit.com/ca49a3f9f1 and reply to the next one. Every correction is logged and shown in the next report, never made silently. Scores become final at 23:59 Eastern on Monday, October 19, 2026, unless an appeal is still open.
